Ballard City General Plan + Code Update

Ballard City faces challenges in balancing its rich heritage with the evolving needs of its growing community. Recognizing the importance of strategic planning, the City engaged Rural Community Consultants to provide expert guidance in refining their general plan and updating their land use codes. In collaboration with city officials and stakeholders, RCC undertook a comprehensive review of Ballard’s existing policies and regulations. The primary focus was to ensure that the city’s development trajectory aligns with its long-term vision and values. The revised general plan emphasized the preservation of Ballard’s unique character while accommodating future growth. Additionally, the land use code revisions prioritized user-friendliness and transparency. These updates not only aligned with current state statutes but also introduced innovative ordinances tailored to Ballard’s specific needs.
