Iron County General Plan Update / Resource Management Plan

The southwestern region of Utah is expected to continue to see a strong growth rate. Recognizing this, Iron County began to update their general plan with a special emphasis on integrating natural resource and community issues. The County selected Rural Community Consultants to write their comprehensive natural resource plan based on previous research and existing policy. An on-the-ground inventory was followed by numerous stakeholder meetings and various levels of analyses. The County planning process involved the creation of maps and development new findings, objectives, policies, and guidelines to direct future decisions on public lands. Special attention was given to motorized and non-motorized recreation. This plan will be used by the County and federal lands managers.
