Marriott-Slaterville General Plan
Marriott-Slaterville faces challenges similar to those of other municipalities, as county lands become increasingly fragmented into incorporated cities along the Wasatch Front. Increasing population has led to a demand for higher housing densities and a loss of prime agricultural land. The City also holds the unique position as being recognized by resolution by the Utah State Legislature as a “model open space city” for the rest of Utah.
They invited Rural Community Consultants to help update their general plan in order to meet state code and improve overall usability. The process involved a review of the City’s plans and ordinances and develop a report outlining both statutory compliance and plan/ordinance alignment issues. Once this was completed, the existing general plan was edited, and a new plan was proposed to the community.
