Mona City Code Update + Impact Fee Study

Mona City is located at the heart of one of Utah’s future growth areas. Their population doubled in the 1990’s, and has grown steadily ever since.  The City recently worked with planning students to update their general plan. While this plan is an improvement from the one that was adopted previously (in 1982), it isn’t the kind of plan that will effectively guide the community through the development pressure that is widely anticipated. This plan also created a significant misalignment and disconnect from their land use ordinances. The city was concerned because this inconsistency can be easily exploited by development proposals that need to be refined in order to be a positive and sustainable addition to the city.

Mona partnered with Rural Community Consultants to develop:

• updates to the general plan
• new/updated land use ordinances
• updated zoning map
• implementation strategy guide
• impact fee study for a small community
