Parowan Community Assessment and Strategic Plan

Parowan is facing significant changes because of regional growth and tourism. Parowan is the 3rd most populous jurisdiction in Iron County, and UDOT has declared Eastern Iron County an “emerging area”, described as “rural areas currently experiencing higher than normal level of growth”. In order to proactively manage “higher than normal” growth, Parowan City staff organized citizen communities to update the state-required general plan. Once adopted, the City partnered with Rural Community Consultants to secure funding for a professional analysis of this plan, and the development of an implementation strategy to take the community-driven objectives into the integration and implementation phases.

Testimonial

“Rural Community Consultants’ assessment of Parowan helped our City move forward. They took the time to really listen to our City Council, staff, business owners, and residents to understand our gaps and strategic priorities. Our Planning Commission began implementation of the land use recommendations in the same meeting where they were presented. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.”
